Managing time with children.
"Time wait for no one",but time can be managed. When we plan, with the help of God, stressful situations can come with ease. Being single is a lot better when it comes to working with time, but when you have a partner and children, it is different.
Here,I will focus on managing time with children of school age. This time requires a lot of planing and following these plans to achieve the desired goal of meeting up with time.
When children are young and are in school, the early morning routine can be tough. It's stressful because you not only focus on yourself alone, but with children who needs special care in everything. Bathing, dressing, feeding, their bags and lots more.
But,with these simple general tips, you can effectively manage time and reduce the stress that comes up with rushing.
1.Wake up time: This is the hardest to me if you're are not used to getting up early. If you can set alarm and get up as early as 4.30am,then you can cook and arrange other things before bathing and getting them dressed up for school. Getting up early is not easy, but once you start it,it becomes part of you. It helps reduce rush, when you rush, you may be stressed up and mix up things that can further cause delays. Try waking up early.
2.Food flasks: we all need food, and for the children to take food to school five days a week, the food flask is needed or any other method of packaging food you can afford. Make sure they are washed and dried everyday before the next use, this helps in reducing early morning work. Water bottles and spoons, all they need for eating should be washed and dried before next use
3.Food: This is very important, prepare the food in the evening if it's the type of food that takes time to prepare. If this food can stay long without getting bad. If it's food that can be prepared one hour and bellow,it can still be done the same morning. Just figure out what will eat if you could not prepare any food the previous day,and do it on time so it doesn't collide with other things.
4.Snacks: lots easier as they can stay longer than most food. These snacks should be available always to back up the food giving to the children. Fruits can be added if you have the means. To package snacks is also very time saving.
5.Uniforms: This has to be washed and arranged before the next use. The undies and sucks as well to avoid looking for them the following day. The uniforms should be kept well so it doesn't look rough the next day.
The school shoes should have a particular location, especially if a child has one pair of school shoe. Without the shoe, the dressing will not be complete.
6.Bathing: Set a bathing time,if you do this, you can manage time for other things, like dressing and eating. Once they have taken their bath, all others can be done in a manageable time frame.
7.Breakfast: Let the children eat,do not rush them but,let them know that there's no time to waste. Let them focus on the food, you have to make sure they focus on the food so they don't delay everyone. If you don't do this, your waking up early will be in vain because you all will be late
8.Time to move: Crucial moment, are they all with their school bags and Lunch packs? You have to make sure all these things are with them before you move, it's annoying when you're half way to school and you realize that these important things (School bags and Lunch packs) are not with the children.
Women are strong creatures, multi tasking naturally, but don't kill yourself. Do your best, have time to relax. If you have a house help, it's easier, please participate too if you have a house help, you know, like women helping women.
The homeworks, feeding, washing of clothes are all tiring, but I tell you, soon, very soon, they will grow up,and they will do things for themselves under your watch, until finally, they can do these things all on their own. If you can afford a house help, why not? If you have helping relatives around, it's good. But still, the steps above,if observed, can help a lot.
